PCB Vacation Style

Settle into a sun-soaked, activity-filled getaway in Panama City Beach.

The sand, white and fine as powdered sugar, reaches out into the clear, emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. As I look upon this idyllic scene, the sun warms my freckled skin.

In Panama City Beach, natural beauty and solitude don't cost a dime. Frolic in the ocean, stroll award-winning beaches or spend a languid day beneath the shade of a palm tree.

The city easily has all the trademarks of a classic beach getaway in North Florida. Plus, it's home to countless attractions, including championship golf courses and a water park.

And after sun-soaked days, you can settle into a Resort Collection of Panama City Beach property. With five to choose from, you'll find one that matches your vacation style.

Full-Service, Please

Lucky for me, Panama City Beach is just a car ride away from home. On my next trip, I plan to treat myself with a stay here, at the city's only full-service resort. Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort suites and villas come with as many as four bedrooms and feature kitchens.

Whether I'm parasailing, jet skiing, or hitting the links at one of the resort's two golf courses, I'll plan my activities through The Club at Edgewater. I'll unwind with beach yoga and a hot stone massage at the spa. Then, it's off to one of the resort's many pools, where I'll have lunch from the Ocean's Bar and Grill overlooking the Gulf.

As the sun sets, I'll meander along the resort's 110 acres and private beach before indulging with room service.

Looking for Luxury

With marble appointments, sweeping balconies and spacious suites, Long Beach Resort defines luxury.

Cool off in the tropical Lagoon Pool after sunbathing on the resort's 1,300-foot beach. Grab a bite poolside at The Hangout or play a tennis match.

Balconies put you front and center for sunsets, and every room overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. Afterward, slip into the warm waters of the resort's seasonally heated Polynesian pools and whirlpool spas.

Long Beach's 14-story towers, which feature one, two and three-bedroom suites, are minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city. Don't miss the daily tasting at Panama City Beach Winery, a family-owned business with citrus, berry and fruit wines.

Got To Be Grand

From the 6,500 square feet of exclusively designed pools to suites as large as 2,300 square feet, everything is grand at the 15-story En Soleil.

Waterfalls and Mediterranean vegetation dot the property, which has a tropical-style pool, heated Polynesian pools and hot tubs. You may just stay in your bathing suit all day.

The resort's residences, which include two and three-bedroom suites as well as penthouses, face the Gulf of Mexico. Three-bedroom condos feature crown molding, fireplaces and state-of-the-art kitchens.

For dinner, grill steaks on the balcony. End the evening with a nightcap and live music (seasonal) at the fine-dining restaurant FireFly, located nearby.

All About Location

If you like to be in the center of the action, Majestic Beach Resort is the place to be. The brand new resort condominium is close to restaurants, shopping centers and other local attractions. Condos vary from studios to four bedrooms.

Nap on the resort's 650 feet of white, sandy beach, take a Banana Boat ride (seasonal) through clear waters, hit the health club, spa and fitness center or sip a drink from the outdoor pool bar. Afterward, hop on over to Pier Park, a 1.1-million square foot, open-air dining, shopping and entertainment center.

On Friday and Saturday nights, watch a movie at the resort's Majestic Theatre.

Classic and Comfortable

As a Florida girl, I love classic beach décor, which is why Emerald Beach Resort is also high on my list of places to stay in Panama City Beach.

The family-friendly resort combines the comforts of home – a kitchen and washer and dryer – with style. Oversized one, two and three-bedroom suites have views of the sparking gulf water. Sit back and listen to the lull of the waves.

Nearby, family-oriented activities abound. Splash around at Shipwreck Island Waterpark, play a round of mini-golf at Coconut Creek Family Fun Park or see alligators, stingrays and dolphins at Gulf World Marine Park.

If getting back to nature is more your speed, create an outdoor adventure at nearby St. Andrews State Park Recreation Area. Hike a nature trail, cast a line from a fishing pier or board a tour boat to Shell Island, an uninhabited stretch of land adjacent to the park. It is the perfect place to commune with nature.

After staying and playing in Panama City Beach, you'll take home memories to keep you warm all year.
