Florida's weather, amenities and activities make it a prime destination for family reunions. Here are some attractive resort options for your gathering.

Florida is a top choice for family reunions, partly because its resorts offer beaches, pools, function space and more, all in one location. The key is finding a resort with the features that make it a perfect place for your family. Check out the following suggestions.

The Lago Mar Resort and Club: This Fort Lauderdale resort will help design a retreat tailored to your family's interests and budget. Visits can include an outdoors party or a family dinner in a banquet room. The resort concierge can arrange off-site excursions including fishing charters, jet skiing or golfing.

Accommodations include ocean-view or pool-view suites with sleeper sofas and kitchens. There are formal and casual restaurants on-site, plus a gourmet market. Amenities include a spacious, private beach, an oceanfront pool, a lagoon-style pool, putting green, Oceanside tennis courts, a giant chessboard, a children's playground, and a spa and fitness center.

By booking a block of 10 executive suites or more, you'll get a discount, depending on the time of year and availability.

The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa: This resort, located on Fort Myers Beach, is a tropical haven on the Gulf of Mexico. Accommodations include Gulf-front one- and two-bedroom villas, all with direct Gulf views. Amenities include a 200-foot fishing pier, tennis courts, spa and KiddsKampp day camp for children ages 4 to 11. There's a tropical bar and grill next to the pool, as well as a casual outdoor dining spot.

The resort's sales division will help you design a memorable family reunion that could include scavenger hunts, team building exercises, WaveRunner excursions, a picnic under a beachfront tent or an indoor banquet. The resort's landscaped pool terrace is ideal for casual functions.

Wyndham Ocean Walk Resort: This 700-room beachfront resort in the heart of Daytona Beach is a family-friendly destination that offers great value for your vacation dollars. Contact Ocean Walk's sales team for help planning your family reunion. Function spaces can accommodate 50 to 200 people. The resort features a variety of menu plans from an off-site caterer and an on-site event manager.

Ocean Walk's wide beach is car-free (you can drive on other beaches in the area). There's also an oceanfront pool with a waterslide and two indoor pools. Accommodations include one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with full kitchens. Ocean Walk Village, an open-air complex with a movie theater, shops and restaurants, is adjacent to the resort. While in town, take a tour of the historically black Bethune-Cookman University.

Hawk's Cay Resort and Marina: This resort is located on a 60-acre tropical island in the Florida Keys. The friendly folks here can help your family plan special activities, including a private poolside dinner or a chartered sunset cruise, and they offer special group accommodation rates.

Accommodations include standard guestrooms and suites with sleeping room for up to four people. Or opt for a three-bedroom villa, which comes with a full kitchen and water- or garden-view porches. The resort offers numerous activities including tennis, fishing, kiteboarding, kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling the coral reef, and dolphin interaction programs. There are also several restaurants, kids' programs and a spa.

The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa: This Destin resort on the Gulf of Mexico offers discounted group rates for 10 rooms or more, depending on the time of year and availability. Event managers can help with menu planning, parties, tournaments and themed events for your family reunion. Ballrooms here can accommodate a reception up to 1,500 people. Functions can also take place on an outdoor deck area or on the beach.

The resort offers an immaculate beach, golf, tennis, access to one indoor and two outdoor pools, five dining options, a spa and fitness center and supervised children’s activities. Accommodations are all suites, including family-friendly deluxe "junior suites," which come with bunk beds tucked away in an alcove.
