If your family is looking for a fun getaway, look no further than the Pensacola area.

Here are seven great family activites, including history, adventure and, of course, sugar-sand beaches.

1. Historic Pensacola

To get a real-life feel for the Pensacola’s past, visit Historic Pensacola. Whether you decide to explore on your own with a walking tour or prefer to see the area with a guide, don’t miss seeing the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum, built in 1908.

2. Pensacola Blue Wahoos

Sports fans can spend an afternoon at the ball park cheering on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Baseball season begins in April with games taking place throughout the spring and summer season. The Blue Wahoos are the Double-A affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds, so be on the lookout for the next big star.

3. Pensacola Beach Boardwalk

Shopping and dining meet the beach at the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk. Take a break from the sunshine and check out local shops and dine at local eateries, all the while you are just steps away from the beach.

4. Adventures Unlimited

If your family prefers adventure, soar through the skies with Adventures Unlimited. Sign up for an afternoon zip lining above the trees and see another side of Northwest Florida. Zoom across Coldwater Creek or choose from one of the many courses offering you a birds eye view.

5. Fast Eddie's Fun Center

Challenge your kids to a go-kart race at Fast Eddie’s Fun Center. Choose from the super speedway for those age 16 and up, or the Junior Racers track for those under 54 inches tall and a slower pace. Take part in a round or two of mini-golf and stop by the arcade to win prizes.

6. National Naval Aviation Museum

If your little ones love planes, don’t miss visiting the National Naval Aviation Museum. Located on NAS Pensacola, the museum features more than 150 aircraft on display with no ropes, no barriers – you can walk right up to these planes. With free museum admission and free guided tours, it’s an affordable and fun adventure. While you're there with the family, you won't want to miss the Blue Angels Squadron air show.

7. Big Lagoon State Park

Step into nature at Big Lagoon State Park, just along the shores of Perdido Key. Crabbing is one of the park’s most popular activities, and bring along your fishing pole, too, because redfish, bluefish and sea trout are caught seasonally.
