Addicted to Sugar-Sand Beaches? Panama City Beach Named Tops for Retiring!

By: Lauren Tjaden

I always knew visiting Panama City Beach could have unanticipated consequences. Now, it’s been confirmed.

When you spend a week in the Northwest Florida destination, it can get into your blood. You start thinking you need a daily dose of sunshine to survive. You start thinking how boring and gloomy other places are. You start thinking of nothing else except scrunching its sugar-fine sand between your toes and splashing in its emerald waters and playing in its Pier Park.

No wonder you end up going back!

Where to Retire Magazine cites Panama City Beach as the top place to retire in its January/February 2012 issue. As the magazine’s editor, Mary Lu Abbott, points out, “Though the area has grown in the last decade, retirees still find a relaxing, affordable lifestyle in the Florida panhandle. Panama City Beach shows off its natural beauty of white-sand beaches and emerald waters. And, continuing education opportunities are available through several area organizations.”

The issue will be available nationwide on Dec. 20, 2011 at various newsstands and Barnes & Noble bookstores.
