Off-site field trip: Join butterfly field guide author, Dr. Jaret Daniels, and a Florida Museum ornithologist as you experience Florida butterflies and birds in their natural habitat. Fall wildflowers burst with color at this 278-acre sandhill long-leaf pine preserve. Swallowtails, skippers, and sulphur butterflies are abundant this time of year. Stop and smell the wildflowers as you enjoy this educational walk through Morningside Nature Center. Ages 18 and up only. Tickets are $25 per person. Create a butterfly garden with Rainforest Manager Jeff Hansen: This workshop is a great way to bring the entire family together and create a ButterflyFest souvenir that will last long after the weekend festivities. This workshop is $40 per station, each of which is suitable for up to three people. Only one person in each group must meet the age limit of 18. Pre-registration is required. “Picture Perfect” Rainforest photography sessions: Snap the picture of a lifetime using a tripod and other photographic equipment usually not permitted inside the Rainforest. After the photo shoot, participants can enjoy the remainder of the day in the Rainforest at no additional charge. This event is $25 per person, pre-registration is required and spaces are filling fast. Behind-the-scenes tours of the McGuire Center: Explore collection rooms and discover the astonishing diversity of butterflies and moths found around the world, as well as learn about ongoing Museum research.
