One of the best-kept secrets of those who live in Florida is the simply fantastic summers in The Palm Beaches.

Whether you’re a boater, a beach comber, nature lover or an outdoor sports enthusiast, summertime in The Palm Beaches can’t be beat. From taking advantage of all the splendor that nature offers to the bargain-priced room rates available at hotels ranging from the lux to the mainstream, the deals and attractions give plenty of reason to come soak up the sun.

Let’s start with nature’s most impressive glories – our beaches and parks.

There are 47 miles of beaches in the Palm Beach area (the largest county in the state), and beach lovers know first-hand that there’s no bad time to visit its shores. Whether it’s to watch the sun rise, go for an early morning jog, sunbathe, dip in the ocean or star gaze when the sun goes down, the beaches here are possibly the most delightful and inviting you’ll find anywhere. They’re also pretty great for fishing.

Stretching from Coral Cover Park in Tequesta to the southernmost South Inlet Park in Boca Raton, there are dozens of beaches to explore. Most have lifeguards, restrooms and picnic tables and some are handicapped accessible.

Hit the water or the trails! The Palm Beaches offers over 85 different parks and beaches, many with boat ramps, walking and bike paths and playgrounds.

For the animal lover, the Palm Beach Zoo and Lion Country Safari offer summer programs. Or, find butterflies and ospreys when strolling the boardwalk at the Daggerwing Nature Center in Western Boca Raton, or taking the 1.5-mile walk through the county’s newest wetland preserve, Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach. Or visit the Loggerhead Marine Life Center in Juno Beach.

If it’s summer luxury you’re looking for, many hotels offer Florida Resident Rates in the summer. Hotel packages are updated daily at www.PalmBeachFL.com. The Boca Raton Resort & Club offers a Beach Club package May 1 through Oct. 10 with rates beginning at $249 a night including breakfast and discounts on a number of other services. While the Days Inn West Palm Beach Airport offers room rates beginning at $45 a night and include a CityPlace discount.

Events:

Discover the Flagler Museum free of charge on Sunday, June 5. The event is held in honor of the Museum's founder, and Henry Flagler's granddaughter, Jean Flagler Matthews. The museum features many historic pieces that showcase life in the Gilded Age.
