Located on the award-winning “Best Main Street of Florida,” also known as Atlantic Avenue, stands the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center in Delray Beach. The venue, which is bounded by restaurants and pedestrian-friendly pathways to the beach, is home to the International Tennis Championship. The ITC returns to the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center Feb. 24 - March 4, 2012, and is sure to bring plenty of excitement and action with it. This Association of Tennis Professionals World Tour and ATP Champions tour dual event has attracted more than 60,000 fans from across the country and the world to Delray Beach for the 10-day extravaganza.
The 20th annual ITC will have 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick returning to Delray Beach to headline the ATP World Tour event. Roddick, a Boca Raton Prep graduate, has maintained his relationship with tournament director Mark Baron, who gave Roddick his first opportunity at age 18 to play pro as a wild-card entry. Hall of Famer Ivan Lendl leads the eight-player ATP Champions Tour event also featuring fellow Grand Slam champions Mats Wilander and Pat Cash.
The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau presented the prestigious 2010 Providencia Award to the Delray Beach ITC. Each year, the convention and visitors bureau celebrates the extraordinary contribution to tourism by a local business, organization or individual.
Also in 2010, Delray Beach was named one of the “Top Ten Best Tennis Towns” in America by the United States Tennis Association.
