A trip to Navarre gives families a chance to revel in its beautiful beaches.
Among Florida's treasured barrier islands, Navarre Beach is a natural retreat for tourists. Nestled between Gulf Islands National Seashore and Navarre Beach County Park, this beach community offers solitude and simplicity. Its pristine beaches are named among the best in the nation year after year, and visitors compare crossing Navarre Bridge to transcending paradise time and time again.
Navarre Beach's 12 miles of shoreline boast sand so clean and powdery white it literally squeaks under your toes. Its emerald clear waters evoke fun in the sun, attracting swimmers, snorkelers, and sailors alike. The warm Gulf waters also attract a plethora of fish, making the region famous for the beloved pastime of fishing. Gulf Islands National Seashore offers nature lovers eight miles of federally protected, undeveloped shoreline - the longest continuous stretch of protected beach in northwest Florida, perfect for sun seekers, birdwatchers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Equally inviting to tourists is Navarre Beach County Park - 130 acres of beautiful beach, lush wetlands and native vegetation. One-third of the park, which opened in 2004, is completely undeveloped and will remain this way. The perfect place for a picnic or a stroll on the beach, the park provides visitors with the option of playing Gulf- or sound-side, the latter of which has been dubbed "Mom's Beach" because it offers children a haven for getting wet.

I am so sorry that you were unhappy with the library charge. The library system in this area has lost a great deal of money from books and tapes not returned. We are trying to a implement a deposit policy for Snowbirds staying for 2 months or more. I'm delighted that you enjoyed Navarre Beach and hope that you return soon!

We've enjoyed Navarre Beach and Navarre community for years, in spite of the not-so-great weather in winter months. In fact, we wonder each year if we really want to return to the cold and rainy weeks. But the hospitality of our JME hosts and the friendliness of Navarre in general keeps us coming back. However, the new punitive policy of the public library may be the tipping point that causes us to think of going elsewhere for "snow bird" winters. Charging $50 for a library card is like a slap in the face. Perhaps the tax income from winter guests should be considered -- along with the taxes already being paid by condo owners, and have the library be a welcoming part of Navarre again. Hey, we'll make a refundable deposit in order to get a library card, but adding a whopping $50 fee for borrowing a few books is way beyond reason. Do you want to encourage winter visitors to come here or not? Obviously the Library Board doesn't.
