Everglades City is a great starting point for exploring Florida's famous ecosystem.
Everglades City lies on the southwest coast of Florida and is nestled between Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, the 10,000 Islands and the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. Accommodations and activities abound, making this a prime spot from which to partake of an Everglades adventure.
A good first stop might be the Museum of the Everglades, located in the center of town. The museum provides the visitor with a greater understanding and appreciation of the Everglades region through educational programs, lectures and regular events.
The Everglades, the largest remaining subtropical wilderness in the United States, remains primitive and yet is easily accessible.
