Just 12 miles east of the downtown business district of Tampa, Brandon boasts a prosperous small town atmosphere with easy access to the big city. There is plenty to do within the Brandon city limits, but you will also find that you are close to it all with area beaches, Central Florida attractions, sporting events, and the Tampa International Airport all nearby. Brandon has come a long way since the late 1850's, when John Brandon and his family came to the area from Mississippi and started it all with 40 acres of land and a secluded dirt road. That land and dirt road eventually became the town of Brandon and the main highway, and the city's growth has only continued to grow in leaps and bounds over the years.
