Description
Suwannee. Just saying the town's name requires you to slow down. And since it's located at the junction of the Suwannee River and the Gulf of Mexico, you can bet you'll find your share of water recreation here – boating, fishing, paddling, even houseboating – and observing the requisite wildlife. Inside the Lower Suwannee Wildlife Refuge, in fact, you can spot turtles, dolphins and hundreds of bird species. On land, hike or bike the Dixie Mainline Trail – its nine miles cross tidal creeks and reveal more of the area's wildlife.
