Description
The Charlotte County city of Punta Gorda, founded in 1887, lies on the Peace River north of Fort Myers and south of Sarasota. In a protected coastal area just off Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico, this Southwest Florida city features Victorian mansions along Retta Esplanade, evidence of Punta Gorda’s former role as rail terminus and port.
