On Florida's west coast, Homosassa is home to several state parks including Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, where you can view manatees from an underwater observatory. At the Yulee Sugar Mill State Park, see a sugar mill used to supply troops during the Civil War.

Dr. Beach named two Florida State Parks in their list of America's Best Beaches 2012! Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park came in 4th and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park was ranked 8th. Since Dr. Beach first began ranking US beaches in 1991, Florida beaches have won 1st place seven times. Five of those seven were state parks.
